About this course

This course is intended for users who have already completed the Asset Framework: Basics course or are very comfortable completing common configuration tasks in the Asset Framework server.

In the Basics class we took you through how to use PI System Explorer or PSE to make common configuration changes in the Asset Framework server. We created objects such as elements templates, attributes tables and enumeration sets.

In this course we're going to build upon that knowledge and cover some more complex items within the Asset Framework server such as security, substitution parameters, derived templates and making changes in bulk with our PI Builder add-in to Excel.

With the knowledge that you gain in this course you'll be able to take your Asset Framework hierarchy design to the next level!

By the end of this Course you’ll be able to…

  • Configure Retrieval Methods for attribute values
  • Set properties for AF elements attributes
  • Use Substitution Parameters in a template attribute
  • Work with tables in AF
  • Deal with differences in template-based assets
  • Make changes in bulk with our PI Builder add-in to MS Excel
  • Assign permissions in AF
  • Work with AF elements
  • Perform administrative tasks in AF
